SASKATOON, SK: Elmwood Residences Inc. is proud to announce a new partnership with Wright Construction Western Inc., selecting the firm as the construction management partner for the future Elmwood Community Hub—a transformational project slated for construction in 2027 that will create a first-of-its-kind inclusive space for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Saskatchewan. The Hub will be the heartbeat of a new era of inclusive community development in Saskatoon, serving the greater disability sector by providing access to life skills and employment training, recreation opportunities, cultural programming and health and wellness services —all under one roof.

“This partnership marks a major step forward in bringing the Elmwood Community Hub to life,” said Dani Carr, Executive Director of Elmwood. “Wright Construction brings not just experience and excellence, but true heart. Their team has shown a deep commitment to building relationships—with our residents, our families, and our broader community.”

Wright Construction was selected following a rigorous RFP process, where their proposal stood out for both technical leadership and strong alignment with Elmwood’s values. Their community-minded approach reflects a deep commitment to inclusive development and meaningful engagement with the disability sector and the individuals Elmwood serves.

Their community-minded approach includes ideas like:

• Viewing portals for residents to watch the build progress

• Resident artwork featured along the construction fence

• Behind-the-scenes video storytelling

• Volunteering time to connect directly with the people Elmwood serves

“Wright Construction clearly demonstrated their enthusiasm for community building,” said Carr. “They brought the heart. From the start, they kept those we serve at the centre of the project.”
The Elmwood Community Hub is part of a broader vision to support people with intellectual disabilities to grow, connect, and thrive. The project will also address a critical lack of fully accessible spaces in Saskatoon, setting a new provincial benchmark for inclusion, care, and collaboration.

“We’re very happy to be part of the Elmwood Community Hub team. As a local contractor, we’re always excited to work on projects with a strong community focus, especially with groups like Elmwood who have a long history of providing meaningful support to people in our city. We really value the team approach they’re taking to this build and appreciate their efforts to use the process itself as another way to support the community.” – Jared Domres, Preconstruction Manager

With design and planning underway, Elmwood will continue to engage with stakeholders, funders and community champions in the lead-up to construction. As momentum builds, opportunities to support this transformational project – through time, talent and philanthropic investment to their capital campaign – will be shared alongside campaign updates.
